The annual meeting of French-Philippine NGOs was held last April 13, 2012 at the Ambassador’s Residence where representatives of the different organizations were able to get acquainted with each other as they exchanged their views on their field.
H.E. Ambassador Gilles Garachon, Mr. Pascal Sliwanski, Second Counselor, and Ms. Elena Edrenkina, Linguistic Attaché in charge of relations with NGOs, welcomed 28 representatives from 19 NGOs together with Mr. Éric Galvin, official representative of the European Delegation in the Philippines for decentralization, local governance, and civil society.
H.E. Ambassador Garachon opened the meeting by recognizing the work of the French-Philippine NGOs. Each representative then took the floor to present the general direction of their respective organizations and shared some of their recent and upcoming projects, which were focused mainly at the local level.
Afterwards, collaboration and cooperation with the local partners was discussed, in which the manner of fund distribution and the expectations of the NGOs vis-à-vis the Embassy of France were tackled.
The meeting was concluded by Mr. Éric Galvin, who presented the different calls for projects that the European Commission in Brussels and the European Delegation in Manila launch every year, and their application process.
