French Gypsy Rock in Manila

The French gypsy rock group “La Caravane Passe” came to Manila for a special one night only performance at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza on March 21, at 8:30 p.m., as part of the Soirée de la Francophonie (French Language Night), the annual celebration of the French language all over the world. The Soirée is organized every year in the Philippines by the Embassies of France, Belgium, Canada and Switzerland, whose countries all have French as one of their national languages. This concert is also the first major event of FRANCOPHIL, this year’s French cultural season in the Philippines.

“La Caravane Passe,” which recently launched its third album with a brand-new image and electrifying new music, invites us to embark on a wild musical adventure, mixing electric guitars, bass, synthesizers, gypsy guitars, brass instruments and mandolins. A one-of-a-kind experience of French, gypsy, rap, Balkan Ska and electro rock and world music all in one, with lyrics in six languages (French, English, Serbian, Spanish, Romanian and German). An authentic melting pot of all-European stories of voyages, frontiers, cultures and personalities. Could “La Caravane Passe” be the future Homo Europaneo?

In its live performances, “La Caravane Passe” puts on a festive show inspired by wildly different historical periods and costumes. Band members Doktor Pat, Maestro Moretto, Seno Llugary, Kolonel Body and their Captain Fetermande, will delight in welcoming you on board their “Ahora in da future”.

Admission to the concert is free on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information on this event, call the Alliance française de Manille at 895-7585 or 895-7441 or email sabrina@alliance.ph.
