Indie Rock Concerts in Manila with French band Subway

October 7, 9:00 pm at SM Mall of Asia Music Hall
October 8, 9:00 pm at SM City North EDSA Sky Dome

Filipino audiences were blown away this October with a unique musical infusion of pop and rock performances by the renowned French female rock band Subway. Often hailed as the female version of Noir Désir, Subway has definitely made its mark in the French music scene for the past 15 years. Their sound infuses a frenzied kind of rock that transports its entire musical dimension on stage.

Subway lives with the creative passion and the desire inherent in making music and writing songs, as if it were an extension of themselves. But despite the rock frenzy, there’s always room for elegance, for sublime harmonies, and for a touch of class. There is pop - wild keyboards, delicious choruses, and rebounding basses. Then there’s rock - swelling and raucous. And of course there are the songs perfect just as they should be, no more, no less - that lodge themselves in the mind and won’t let go.

Subway is living the good life with HIDE AND SEEK, its 5th album released in 2011. An electric and sophisticated whirl that dances on cold embers, and officially connects them to the roots of modernday rock. Subway has collaborated with some of the most prominent international and local French bands of today’s rock scene : Placebo, Eiffel, No one is innocent, etc.

Just as the bright billboards illuminate the megalopolis of Metro Manila, Subway played its unique blend of pop-rock genre alongside home-grown and Manila-based band Taken by Cars. Melodies reverberated throughout the interiors of the Music hall at the SM Mall of Asia on the 7th of October and at the SM City North Edsa Sky Dome on the 8th of October at 9pm.

The Subway concerts were a FrancoPhil event organized by the Embassy of France to the Philippines, Alliance Française de Manille, SM Mall of Asia and SM City North EDSA, with the support of Air-France-KLM, Total, Veolia Water. Media partners : Manila Bulletin, Sense & Style, Net 25 and DZRJ.

Admission to the concert was free.
